On Saturday, May 19, 2001 we took part in the third year of a very good action The Sands of Zahorie 2001.
The action as usual took place in a very familiar atmosphere of the motorest Kamenny mlyn. This year we took part with Tatra 805 Radio vehicle and with Tatra 138 4x4 which had its renewed premiere after a complete renovation. Praga V3S, military vehicle (a platform) with a reel, was part of our small colony as a company vehicle.
Tatra 805 got a new engine four days before departure so the journey to Kamenny mlyn was as well its first ride. Last year it had to withdraw in the beginning of the competition, this year after a small repair right before the start went very well, which confirmed the 5th place it got in the competition. Tatra 138 4x4 went through the whole route though it's a vehicle more suitable for the road than for the terrain we were moving on. This terrain is just right for Tatra 805 and caterpillar vehicles have a great advantage in the sand as we saw in the previous years, but our "Hakl" stayed home this time.
Altogether with the journey we made 120 kilometres. Tatra 805 consumed 60 litres of petrol, mainly because a good part of the route we went on reduction and we gave it a hard time also in the sand.
