It was a cold November evening of 2002. The Tatra Jamal's gear shift decided it was time to retire and stopped working. This wasn't the happiest moment for the owner and driver of the Tatra Jamal. Taking out the gear box wasn't a problem; the problem was that there was not a spare one even in Kopřivnica, the vehicle's hometown.

When the stick still worked, the Tatra Jamal drove daily, carrying gravel for the concrete works. Something had to be done so that the factory would get the gravel it needed. It was easy. The 42-year old Tatra 111 Tipper was in the garage. It only needed gas and it was ready to go.
