In the middle of January 2002 we found a new engine of Tatra 111 for sale.
Because things like this don't happen everyday, it was urgent to do something. There was a lot of people interested in buying it but a lot of them were only interested in using parts of it for the Praga V3S.
We found out that it was in a boat with a Tatra 111 engine in which the owner was not interested, well, he only wanted the boat.
The boat was on a trailor, in a dark hall without any lights. After we pulled it out we found out that the engine was a brand new one, with only 2 running hours.
The dismantling of the engine was quite easy except for few small things that were different from the engine in the Tatra 111 vehicle, e.g. two sumps of the oil and a different flywheel of the engine.
To pull out the engine from the boat we used a Tatra 148 crane (which was accidentally passing by). What else could be better for such an operation?
The Tatra 148 had no obvious problems with this almost 1000 kg weight.
We laid the engine on the platform of an Avia vehicle and off we went!
The operation including waiting for the crane took 1,5 hours.
The engine will be carefully preserved as a permanent treasure almost.
